Reducing Your Ecological Footprint.
An ecological footprint is the measurement of human consumption in comparison to the Earth’s ability to regenerate natural resources. GigBooks helps you go above and beyond recycling by reducing your ecological footprint.
-The Average office employee creates 70 pounds of paper waste each month.
-To create one ton of paper it takes 2 barrels of oil, 7,000 gallons of water, 4 acres of land and 4,000 kilowatt hours of electricity.
-When we recycle, the major cost of creating a ton of recycled paper is 40% of the electricity used to create the virgin paper.
-According to the EPA, recycling one ton of paper saves enough energy to power the average American home for six months.
GigBooks’ Ecological Efforts
We make a conscious effort to reduce GigBooks’ ecological footprint on a daily basis.
From the beginning, GigBooks has implemented a recycling program, uses recycled office products, and energy efficient appliances. We strive to live by the same principles we preach.
Who is GigBooks?
Our History
GigBooks is an idea dating back to 2003 spurred from Justin and Amanda’s need for software to manage their multifaceted business. They needed software to track leads, post production, staff scheduling, invoicing amongst other things specific to the creative professional’s needs. Justin looked high and low for software that could manage their business without having to enter data repetitively. Thus GigBooks was created to help service and creative professionals.
GigBooks began development in October 2007. From October to April the GigBooks team worked nonstop to create the first release. With the great response from beta testers and fast growing membership the team plowed ahead with new features.
In September 2008 the GigBooks team was excited to be participating in their first tradeshow. Response was greater than expects and the GigBooks team was pumped up to go back to the office and keep plugging away at making the lives of members easier.
